BG to open its doors to prospective students

 07/03/2012

Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln is giving prospective students and their parents a chance to look around and see what life is like in Lincoln next Sunday (11th March).

BG is proving popular with students - it saw an 18.1% rise in applications to its undergraduate degrees in the period leading up to the 15th January UCAS deadline.

The figures mean that BG enjoyed the second highest rise in applications of any publicly funded university or university college in England, behind Birkbeck College, University of London.

The open day runs from 11am until 4pm on Sunday 11th March and includes a variety of different opportunities and activities, giving students a chance to see presentations, tours and drop-in sessions. Light refreshments will be available in Connies, Constance Stewart Hall, The Bar and in the on-campus Coffee Shop, Curiositea.

BG Events Manager Hannah Clipsham said: "There will be lots of information available on the day, with a chance to talk to tutors, see the facilities and talk to student ambassadors. Campus, accommodation and city tours will run throughout the day and there will be regular performances from the Samba band.

"The open day will give students a chance to look around and really get a feel for what life is like at BG."

Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln offers more than 80 different programmes ranging from Early Childhood Studies, English and History to Heritage Studies at foundation, single honours, joint honours and postgraduate level. BG is also well known for its education and teacher training courses.

"We have an excellent academic reputation and a safe and attractive campus in a cathedral city, and we're among the top ten UK universities for employability," said Hannah.

"By charging £7,500 per year we're determined to maintain a fair fee and keep our courses accessible to as many people as possible."
